Part II: THE NEVER ENDING LOVE STORY ♥

The way we met up with each other was quite a blur, but one thing for sure, it wasn't love at first sight and wasn't all that romantic. My only recollection of how I met him was during trainings for a (different) trek. I've chosen to go for Yong Yup (Thinking back, I must have been crazy to have gone for it as my first trek) while he was training for a waterfall trek, Stong. Other bits and pieces of recollection was that he has a (family) car and had volunteered to drive C and me to a MRT near our home, and he did a bit of Daytona drive. Subsequently, he would usually be the guy with a car to drive us out for late night suppers.

That's me, photo taken during Yong Yup trek.
Within months, we were hanging out in a group. 2 guys and a girl. Together, we were mostly pre-occupied with SMUX activities (an outdoor adventure arm of SMU), staying overnight in the CCA room, planning for camps, going for treks etc. It was interesting as someone had actually thought I was hanging out with the other guy in the group. At that point in time, I didn't really gave Aiks a heck. He was not that outstanding, preferring to wear in big tees and slacks (Not that I dressed up, but o'well... impression counts).

One day, we were talking about organising a recreational trip to a beach. He suggested Perhentian, and then we started planning for it. I remembered he volunteered for it, while I reluctantly accepted as I had the uneasy feeling that he was trying to get near me. My first instinct was always to run away from whoever tries to woo me. During the trip and the next few treks that we embarked on, he was on a constant look out for me, sticking to me when I wanted to do something and refusing to be persuaded away. Is it persistence or irritation, I thought.

Me and Aiks in the front row. From our expression, I bet you can tell that we were forced to sit in this arrangement.
Eventually I was

1. Enlightened: A friend of mine asked if I would feel lost without this 'pest' by my side.

2. Touched: While he was crippling during a trek and literally on a walking stick, he still insisted on walking by my side.

3. Mesmerised: He walked in, one day, with a totally different hairstyle and I realised that he actually look good when well (would better be a better word?) groomed.

That's him in the orange polo, which got me.. erm. mes.. (can't continue). Perhaps I like someone from the eighties? lol
Next, you know what happened.

Today, we are officially together for more than six years. These six years wasn't all that smooth-sailing. We broke up and got back together. We quarreled and had different opinions. But most of the time, I was his priority and he takes care of me like a delicate flower (except when he's watching a TV, or playing games. You see, he can't multi-task). We hanged out (very) often; when there's no topics to talk about, we talked in funny baby languages and send emoticons; we respected each others' privacy and now, we are soon moving on to the next stage of life. Having talked to my friends about relationship matters, I've came to realise that I've bagged a gold.

On 25 Dec 2011, he proposed. With the help of my friends, it was indeed a well-planned out surprise. He was never good at surprises, but I guess years of being with me has brushed off some magic.

It happened in a blur. Such apt photo.
This year, year of 2014, will be a hectic and exciting year for both of us - solemnisation, pre-wedding photoshoot and planning, and the arrival of our lovenest.

Cheers to our love ♥♥
